Warm trickles from my heart,
Leaking down my lungs,
Filling up the empty spaces,
Pooling behind my eyes,
A cool breeze pushes it back,
Anchors feet against a tree,
Green, finally, with a new hope,
Spreading dark shadows everywhere.
There's a reason tears come with laughter
And the breeze tears leaves away.
There's a reason the sun shines often
But still not everyday.
Today my laughter echoed
Against the wall behind your eyes;
It came back and embraced me
No comfort there I find.
Alone I stood beneath the tree
And wondered if my scream
Had found a way through shade-filled leaves
And arrived at it's place in the sky.
There's a reason tears come with laughter
And the breeze tears leaves away.
There's a reason the sun shines often
But still not everyday.
Warmth inside, both good and bad:
Emotion or endless bleeding.
A cool wind speaks of ice,
Green may serve to signal life
Or block out light and feeling.
Standing in the shade or sun;
I think I'm in both
Laughter.
There's a reason tears love laughter
And the breeze blows clouds astray
To cover up the sun a while
And let the darkness play.
