The Sun and the Moon

That was the night the moon stayed new
I cried for I did not know what to do.
The moon laughed at me as if to say
Baby, you could always have your way.

I'll shine for you if you shine for me,
That's the way it's got to be,
So shine your light and make it bright,
This doesn't have to be a fight;
You shine for me, I'll shine for you
That's it, that's all you have to do.

I tried to shine, but all my tears
Made colors burst upon the years.
High above the grey clouds' dew
The moon stayed on and on, always new.

I could not see you, no one could;
If I could shine you know I would.
Please come back to light of day,
But all the moon would always say

I'll shine for you if you shine for me,
That's the way it's got to be,
So shine your light and make it bright,
This doesn't have to be a fight,;
You shine for me, I'll shine for you,
That's it, that's all you have to do.'

Night grew darker, stars stayed on,
The empty hole was very, very wrong.
But the moon plays no more games with me,
The darkness swallowed everything.

Sometimes I still think sometimes,
Would I have saved him if I shined?
Or would the moon be ever ever new...
I really did all that I knew to do...

I'd have shined for you if you'd shined for me,
That wasn't how it had to be,
If you'd been shining through my tears
Then maybe I'd have shined for all these years.
But it seems for now you must stay always new,
I'll shine for you, if you'll shine for me too.

The End

It seems I'm coming to the end
of sketchbooks and diaries,
and if I'm to continue
new words must be bought,
new symphonies sought,
new images wrought
on nothing but air,
air, and shapes of wind,
its whispered choruses,
haunting words.
But to write on the wind
one must fly with the wind,
leave all edges behind.
If I'm to continue,
it seems I must
jump.
